Beauty Hits of 2016

Sheesh, 2016 is holding its grip as long as it can!  With a new year comes new perspective on how you’ll spend the next 365 days. Beauty has thrived in 2016 with the influx of products hitting the market and brands churning out collections to keep up with the trends.  I’ve tried a bunch of products this year. Some were duds and others exceeded my expectations. All of the products that have made my list this year are seriously worth the buy! Here’s a list of what made my favorite list in 2016.

Melt Eyeshadow Stacks

I think that I’ve written about this company’s eyeshadows every chance that I had this year.  If you haven’t tried anything from this brand yet, here’s a quick breakdown; BOMB, BOMB, and BOMB! Their eyeshadow stacks come in a variety of shades and will definitely work on every skin tone.

ABH Master Palette by Mario

This palette slid onto my list at the ABSOLUTE last minute.  I was holding out on getting this because… what’s another palette to just sit there. I finally picked it up at the last Sephora VIB sale and I’m glad that I did.  The shades in this palette are perfect for on the go and is great from transition from day to night.  I also appreciated the soft texture that blended beautifully on the lid.

This was by far my favorite product  of 2016. Rich, pigmented, and glittery sums up what this collection was all about. The shadows were extremely versatile and the amount of looks that you could come up with were endless.  If this set is still on sale at Sephora… treat yourself!

//Foundation, Concealer, Primer//

Tarte Empowered Hybrid Gel Foundation

Foundation has always been one of those products that I’ve struggled with.  Either the color match was not quite right or the finish was not the best.  This foundation was one that had me shook this summer. This was perfect on my dry skin and gave such a nice dewy/natural finish.  It also doesn’t make my skin look drier throughout the day like most foundations do.

Makeup For Ever Ultra HD Stick Foundation

This right here is BAE, my ride or die.  When I tell you this works wonders, believe me! Medium to full coverage, dewy finish, and travel friendly.  It has been my go to literally all of 2016.

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer

I literally bought this concealer about a month ago and… bye bye NARS Creamy Radiant concealer.  I had been using the famous NARS concealer for about a year and loved it, however, recently I noticed a lot of creasing and color change once I used my set powder. The Tarte concealer has me covered, as it sets once dried and does not highlight imperfections under the eye.  It is also full coverage which is great for covering dark pigmentation.

E.L.F Mineral Infused Primer

I was pleasantly surprised with this one.  I received this product courtesy of e.l.f and Influenster.  I’m use to a more gel-like formula, but this one has a more of a liquid-y formula.  My foundation applied extra smooth over this primer and it held up longer than previous primers that I have used.  Best part…. $ 6.00!

Farmacy Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Mask

2016 has been year of skincare and masks were what all beauty enthusiasts were talking about. I was recommended this product by a Sephora cast member  I’m always on the hunt for products to help me with my dry skin. This mask is self heating and really leaves the skin supple, very spa-like. I pull for this about 1-2 times per week and have seen quite an improvement.

Tarte Maracuja Oil

My holy grail beauty oil goes to Tarte.  The Maracuja oil is lightweight and works well after a hydrating cleanser and mask. It also improves the application of foundation.

VI Derm Cleanser

This cleanser literally removes all traces of film and makeup from the skin.  The grapefruit scent is pleasant as well.  The formula is really concentrated and a little will go a long way.

Lashes just add so much flare to a look that it is hard to go without them, even for a natural look.  Here are some of my favorites this year.

Ardell Wispies

Mandy Cosmetics Vixen Lash

(save some coins by using ‘MelanieB10’ at checkout)

I’ve been experimenting with different lipstick brands.  I’m also trying to break out of using mattes only and try different textures.

Gold Label Cosmetics

This brand has an awesome matte lip pen in super rich colors.  The formula is comfortable and dries quickly. You can save but using code ‘Melanie’ at checkout!

Dose of Colors

I’ve typically gone for their matte liquid lipsticks.  I recently purchased their lipgloss in the shade ‘Bellini’ and magic!  What I love most about this formula is how soft it is and that it’s not sticky.

I have only tried their lip toppers, which I love, so I’m excited to try more textures from this brand.  This is another gloss with an ultra smooth formula and can be worn comfortably over other lipsticks.

Bite Beauty

I seriously cannot get enough of this brand.  Their lip products are some of my favorites especially the amuse bouche collection, which is a newer collection. What’s best about this brand is that they are the all natural ingredients, the fresh scent, and the hydrating wear on the lip. Fun fact: Bite has lip lab which allows customers to create their own lipstick… field trip anyone?!

Morphe Brushes

Another holy grail product is the Morphe Elite brush set.  I purchased a few of the brushes before they released a newer version of the collection.  These brushes blend like a dream.

I discovered this brand a few months ago and decided to try their eye kit.  This set is perfect for just starting out your brush collection.  The hairs are really soft.  My favorite out of the collection was the crease brush because of the short compact bristles and ease of use. If you’re looking to grow your brush collection, why not save while doing so, use code ‘MATTESAMUA15’.
